How to Set Up Local (Self-hosted) MCP

Step-by-step guide for setting up a self-hosted MCP server instance.

1. Prerequisites

   Before you begin, make sure you have the following:

   Bright Data Account

   Sign up for free and receive 5,000 requests per month at no cost.

   Your Bright Data API Key

   New users receive their API key in the welcome email.

   Node.js

   Ensure Node.js is installed and up to date.

2. Install MCP Server

   Install the latest version of the MCP server globally using npm:

   npm install -g @brightdata/mcp
